The deliberate pursuit of un-curated, un-staged (at times physically demanding experience) as an antidote to sterile modern homogenization. Fear, vertigo, and exhaustion are its primary indicators - the last biological responses that cannot be performed for an audience. The friction is not the obstacle. The friction is the discovery.
Biometric Exposure

The act of revealing an immutable aspect of one's identity - the natural timbre of a singing voice, raw unpolished art - in front of others. Unlike technical skill, which hides behind proficiency, a biometric exposure cannot be deflected. It implies the subject is okay with being perceived. Many are not. In empaths, watching someone else undergo biometric exposure dissolves the observer-performer boundary, triggering vicarious fight-or-flight.

The quality of earnest, unpolished, genuinely vulnerable storytelling. Characterized by flawed characters who are actually flawed, first acts that establish someone worth rooting for, and messages delivered with subtlety rather than broadcast. Any residual earnestness in contemporary media is now masked by layers of irony, sarcasm, and social satire. Camp has not survived this.
Captured Empire

Any political economy, institution, or system that has drifted toward hierarchy and power concentration - not through ideological failure, but because concentration is an emergent property of systems regardless of their founding principles. Eventually, All forms of checks and balances succumb to regulatory captures.
The Casual Hangout

A historical social interaction characterized by messy, unpolished, and vulnerable coexistence. Replaced in the modern era by meticulously staged apartment vibes, extreme trend-based personas, and zero tolerance for the unscripted. The apartment must be set. The vibe must be curated. The mask must not slip.
Contentification

The colonization of a hobby by the demand to produce output for an audience. The moment a private practice acquires viewers, it begins quietly reshaping itself toward them - adjusting, optimizing, performing. Distinct from sharing, which is incidental. Contentification is structural: the audience becomes the point. The original pleasure is the first casualty.
The Curated Garden

Paradoxically, still curated - but curation here is in service of rawness rather than performance. The contradiction is acknowledged and accepted. The garden is not for the algorithm. It is for the gardener.

The narrative space in which a viewer learns who they are rooting for before the inciting incident occurs. Its disappearance from contemporary cinema is the primary reason technically proficient films feel emotionally hollow. We are dropped into the action before we know whose survival we care about (a useful writing tool at times). The result is spectacle without stakes.

The clean techno-optimist dream of the mid to late 2000s: technology that harmonizes with nature, democratizes knowledge, connects humanity, and trends toward a post-scarcity world. Currently in a state of mourning.
Kronos
The Chronological Boogeymann.
The crushing, linear march of time experienced at sea level. The source of arbitrary societal benchmarks, the guilt of missed self-imposed deadlines, and the paralysis of resting while the next commitment approaches. Kronos loses jurisdiction inside Liminality - specifically the ascent, the open water, the threshold state where accountability cannot follow.
Liminality
The In-Betweenn.
The threshold state in which one is perpetually in transit and therefore temporarily exempt from accountability. Found in the ascent of a mountain, the drop-off of a seabed, the waiting rooms of transient cities. In liminal space, the psyche cannot be pinned down by what it has or hasn't become yet. This is not avoidance. It is the only place some people can finally rest.
The Machine
The Global Panopticonn.
The modern algorithmic apparatus that converts biological bandwidth into digital omniscience and calls it civic duty. It prefers you to feel globally, act never, and stay tuned. Hyper-proficiency in the news cycle is not enlightenment. It is a subscription to active misery over which you have zero agency. What you rehearse, you become better at feeling.
Mind-at-Large
The Fieldn.
In analytic Idealism, the undivided ground of consciousness from which individual minds are partitioned. Physical constants, the speed of light, the behavior of matter - these are not stored in your private room. They are properties of the Field itself. You did not write them and cannot locally override them, for the same reason a wave cannot rewrite the ocean. Individual agency operates at the level of one's relationship to the Field, not by editing its constants.
Radius of Leverage

The localized area in which an individual actually has agency. Empaths are structurally paralyzed when attempting to carry the active misery of the entire globe - a biological impossibility that masquerades as moral responsibility. The radius of leverage is the scale at which problems can actually be touched. The machine would prefer you never locate it.
Strong Emergence

In materialist philosophy, the event where dead, non-conscious matter arranges itself into a brain and somehow begins to experience things. No mechanism for this transition has ever been identified. Materialism calls it strong emergence. It is indistinguishable from magic wearing a lab coat.
Utopian Scholastic

An aesthetic prevalent from the late 1980s to the early-mid 2000s, manifesting primarily in the visual identity and presentation of edutainment media such as children's books, early digital encyclopedias, nature/science/history documentaries and scientific outreach programs.
Whiteshirts

Ideologues who arrive at moral corruption not through cartoon villainy but through sequential, individually defensible logic. The difficulty - and the danger - is that the reasoning is never obviously wrong at any single step. You can only see the destination from outside the sequence.
Wholeness

Not a manufactured coping strategy, but a logical deduction. The act of dropping artificial resistance to the present moment and operating under the assumption that the universe is cooperative, not adversarial. A realization that waiting for the world to change before allowing yourself to feel whole is a mathematical and philosophical error.
